The VMS Upright Bass Lesson Advantage

Upright Bass Lessons at VMS can give you a head start on the largest instrument in the strings family. Just because most bass music is written for the bottom notes of the score doesn’t mean there is little to do! Lessons will include fun and challenging music, reading assignments, music theory and more. Be ready for that next orchestra score, gig, or audition, and be amazing!

Did you know there’s more types of music for an upright bass to play than classical music? In your lessons you can explore upright bass in jazz, 1950s-style blues and rock and roll, traditional country music, tango and folk music.

Our VMS Upright bass instructor is a highly skilled player with music degrees and extensive professional performance experience. While teaching full-time, he also currently performs and records with local and world-class musicians. Well-rounded, highly trained, and experienced teachers can provide a much deeper understanding of students’ needs and concerns. All VMS teachers are devoted to the progress of their students. Lessons are customized to fit the interest and learning style of each student.

VMS students and parents may log in to the VMS student portal to track assignments and teacher notes for every lesson. Additionally, younger students may opt to enroll in the VMS Juniors Program. It’s a proven curriculum designed to inspire students to practice more while enhancing their love for music. Using check up tests with leveled prizes, it’s effective, free, and available through any teacher for any lesson.

Take what you learn in your lessons and expand! Perform in a showcase, record in our state-of-the-art studio, or sing a band or a performance group – All at VMS!

Every 6-8 weeks, every student has the option to perform in front of an audience. All students are welcome, and participation is encouraged but always optional.

A wide variety of producers, organizations, event organizers look to us to find talent. Through VMS, find out about auditions, performances, and contests for local, regional, or national events.

What our Have To Say...

FAQ for Voice Lessons

Lessons are always available online, but for in-person lessons, for now, all teachers and students wear masks and maintain 6 ft or more distances. Lesson rooms have plexiglass dividers and air filters. In addition, the COVID-certified iWave air scrubber is installed in our central air systems throughout the building

It is advisable to come to your first lesson with your instrument, but if you are not able to, let us know when you sign up so your teacher will prepare to let you use one and will advise you on getting your own for following lessons.

All lessons are offered with extreme flexibility to suit various scheduling needs. Click here for VMS Lesson Pricing options.

For the 12 and under crowd, check out the

all-new VMS Juniors program!

All lessons are available online or in-person at our 9,000 sq. foot facility in Columbus, Ohio. We observe all Covid-19 safety guidelines and have installed the pure air iWave filter into our central heating and cooling systems. All are required to wear masks in the building.
