Guitar
Rock Out Any Style
Guitar lessons at VMS include both electric and acoustic training and are designed for all learners, no matter your age or experience level.
We offer all styles, from blues to rock to jazz and everything in between. We also focus on the fundamentals, including instrument care.
You’ll learn how to:
- Read & write Guitar Tab and Nashville Numbers system
- Play by Ear
- Improvise
- Learn to write musical notation
- Finger and flat pick (including classical)
- Play and sing at the same time
- Effectively use your amp and pedals
- Perform live and in a recording studio
Ukulele
Strum Your Tunes
Ukulele has made something of a resurgence over the past few years. It’s featured in many popular pop songs and it’s a fun instrument to learn!
Guitar students often add ukulele training to their repertoire, learning chords and applying it quickly!
We even have a Uke Club, which allows students to have fun, collaborate, and express their creativity in a unique space.

Upright bass lessons are a great option for those looking to play in an orchestra or jazz ensemble. We focus on music theory and the fundamentals, no matter if you’re just starting out or have been playing for decades.

Piano / Keys
Piano, Keyboard & More
We offer lessons for all styles of piano and keyboard – from classical to jazz to contemporary styles and many more. Our approach focuses on sight reading and ear training for players at all levels and we make sure you’re able to go at your own pace.
Our comprehensive approach also works to develop your ear as you learn the instrument and improve your skill level.
Drums
Steady and Strong
Our drum and percussion levels are for everyone, no matter your age or experience level. We teach you to play in groups as part of your training.
Styles include rock band to marching band to symphonic instruments.
We use both live and electric drums, where other studios tend to just use practice pads. We have two sets in the drum room, which allows the teacher and student to play together.
You’ll learn:
- All genres including rock, jazz, blues, funk, gospel, latin, and more!
- Drum fills, from rudimentary to professional
- Drum Tuning
- Play in a studio setting and learn to be a session player
- To read and write percussion rhythms, drum set music, and drum charts for music such as a big band jazz setting
- How to prepare for college auditions
Songwriting
Your Music From Ideas to Expression
If you know you have a few—or a few hundred!—songs inside you, our songwriting lessons are the perfect way to get them out into the world for all of us to hear!
At VMS, we take a twofold approach to songwriting.
First, we address the basics of creating your song. Our teachers will help with chord/song structure, whether you’re starting from scratch or enhancing a current song.
Second, we’re able to create music around your lyrics. If you have a lyrics or a poem, we can help you develop that perfect melody.
We also focus on songwriting production, which allows you to use popular programs to help you layer your song. We’ll also help you generate sheet music for your written song.
For the song you’ve always wanted to write, VMS can bring it to a reality!
